We're making friends!

The first few weeks of school we meet new friends and see some old familiar faces from preschool or play dates. Encourage your child to tell you the names of their friends. You may want to ask, "Who sits at your table?" "Who do you sit next to at lunch?" or "Who do you play with at recess?" If your child cannot tell you the names of their new friends, make that an assignment for them. Tell them you are going to ask the name of 1 or 2 new friends each day until they can tell you all their table mates first, then lunch friends, then recess buddies. Other categories can be friends on their bus, parent pick up friends, ECE friends. Soon your child will know all their classmates with a little encouragement from you and some friendly name games we'll play.
