Color Week

What a colorful week it was! Kindergartners started the week with learning about primary colors and secondary colors. Kindergarten artists mixed primary colors red, yellow and blue to make orange, purple, green and brown. We sang songs that taught the spelling of the color words and searched for color words in print. We graphed our favorite colors and made rainbows. We read color stories, a favorite"Mouse Paint." On Friday students got to choose 2 primary food colors to add to their water bottles. Students had fun mixing, then drinking green, orange and purple water. Several students exclaimed, "Hey, this tastes like water!" I will brag on several students who were painting when the principal came in for a pop in visit. "What are you all doing, this looks like fun?" Kindergartners replied, "We're mixing primary colors and making secondary colors." "Wow," said Dr. McKenney, "those are some big words, good job!"
