Five Senses

We had a great week learning about our five senses. The children created folders of the work we did in class learning about our senses. The front is a matching activity pairing textures with words. We touched things smooth, soft, hard, soft and bumpy and created a hand picture. We talked about the parts of our tongue that taste sweet, salty and bitter. We did activities with the manual alphabet with partners and learned how some deaf people communicate. We read about Helen Keller and how she overcame what many view as obstacles, Helen was both deaf and blind and learned to speak. Helen Keller graduated college and wrote several books, truly a handicapeable person! In small groups we explored pages from a Brailled magazine and read other books about our 5 senses. We'll finish up next week with a game using our smell and a sound game.
